What Hope does not provide
Hope coordinates volunteer staffing at various clinics and health centers in the Omaha area; two evening
clinics at One World Community Health Center (formally Indian Chicano Health Center), two evening clinics at
Siena Francis House (a shelter), one evening and two day clinics at the Stephen Center MOBA Clinic and one
day time psychiatric clinic at Siena Francis House. The clinics are staffed entirely by volunteer physicians,
Creighton University Medical School and the UNMC College of Medicine. Each month 35 physicians and other
support staff volunteer their time.
Hope coordinates volunteer staffing at four clinics
and health centers in the Omaha area; two evening clinics
at One World Community Health Center (formally Indian
Chicano Health Center), two evening clinics at Siena
Francis House (a shelter), one evening and two day clinics
at the Stephen Center MOBA Clinic, one day time psychiatric
clinic at Siena Francis House and one day time clinic
at the Salvation Army Rehabilitative Center. The clinics
are staffed entirely by volunteer physicians, nurse
practitioners, Creighton University Medical School and
the UNMC College of Medicine. Each month 35 physicians,
12 nurses or nurse practitioners and other support staff
volunteer their time.

Some people require treatment beyond the scope of services
available in a health center or clinic. Hope works as
a volunteer broker for patients of clinics and health
centers coordinating care for low-income, uninsured
patients with 500 specialists, area hospitals and health
systems and others who donate their time and related
charges for the cost of care. Tests or procedures needed
for diagnoses are also donated. The following health
centers and clinics currently refer to Hope for specialty

A network pharmacy shared by seven clinics opened in
June of 2002 with seed funds from the Health Resources and Services Administration Community Access Program
(CAP), the Suzanne and Walter Scott Family Foundation, and the Bureau of Primary Health Care. The pharmacy
provides services to patients of specific health centers and clinics at an affordable cost plus a dispensing
fee. The pharmacy is bi-lingual (English and Spanish) and provides patient counseling as well as filling
prescriptions.
One World Community Health Center and Council Bluffs Community Health Center participate in the federal 340b
program pharmaceutical discount program which provides additional cost savings for their patients at Hope
Pharmacy.
A number of area clinics and health centers in the Hope network collaborate with Hope to order medications from
pharmaceutical manufacturers through a central database and program located at Hope. Through this program
patients are enrolled in manufacturer supported programs for the indigent to enable those with chronic
medication needs to obtain a 90 day supply of medications.
Seed funds from the William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation launched and continues to support this program and
funds from Health Services and Resources Administration Community Access Program, with a small contribution from
patients to help defray program operating costs.

Funds from a number of community sources provide a limited amount of support for the cost of medications for the
most needy in our community. Hope serves as a central coordinating organization for funds working in
collaboration with community organizations, clinics and health centers and using Hope's pharmacy.

Spanish speaking Hope patients are provided trained
and quality interpreters for the appointments to see
specialists or for surgical care by Hope. Initially
funded by the Omaha Community Foundation Fund for Omaha
and now supported by the Health Resources and Services
Administration Community Access Program. In the instance
other languages are necessary, Hope has resources to
locate an appropriate interpreter.

Hope Interpreters (HI) is a collaborative effort initiated
by the Community Language Access Collaborative to help
ensure quality health care to linguistically and culturally
diverse patients. Program development and services supported
by the Health Resources and Services Administration
2002 Community Access Program, the Suzanne & Walter
Scott Family Foundation, the Nebraska Health Care Cash
Fund, City of Omaha/Enterprise Zone Social Services
Block Grant and BlueCross and BlueShield of Nebraska.

Hope Medical Outreach Coalition announces the December 1, 2004 launch of the "Hope for Vision" eye care program.
The program is based on Hope’s existing medical and dental specialty care referral services and will coordinate
donated eye exams for early detection and treatment of eye disease. It will also provide eyeglasses at an
affordable cost for individuals who earn too much to qualify for state and federal health care assistance,
have no insurance and cannot afford the costs of eye exams and glasses. Hope Medical Outreach Coalition has
been developing the program over the past year in collaboration with the Nebraska Optometric Association, Lion's
Clubs, Prevent Blindness Nebraska, LensCrafters and area health centers and clinics. To learn more about this
program, e-mail caflorez@hopemed.us

Hope is not a health insurance plan. Hope does not pay
for doctor,
dentist, hospital or emergency room bills. Hope arranges
care and
financial arrangements prior to patients receiving care
based on a
referral basis from network clinics and providers. Hope
does not
provide care for spinal injuries or "back-problems",
physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy,
developmental delays, substance abuse, severe sleep
disorders, hearing aids, long term care, dentures, physical
exams, terminal conditions or diseases (except in the
instance one of our network providers volunteers for
such care). Patients must not
be eligible for workers compensation, Medicaid, legal
injury or illness claims, disability, Douglas Country
General Assistance, VA Health Benefits or other health
insurance.
